Skateboards, Soulmates, and a Sunset I'll Never Forget - August 2026

I was itching to create a fun photo session!!!

Then my clients appeared, as if they knew I was searching for them!

An adorable couple who use to skateboard together were looking for location recommendations to have a relaxed, stress free couples session.

Location

There was a nature preserve not to far from me with sidewalks and boardwalks surrounded by brush, trees and the everglades water, which has the most perfect view of a sunset.  I hadn’t photographed at this location yet so I was stoked when my clients agreed on this spot!

Session progression

Most sessions start off “slow”, clients are nervous about how they look or if they need to smile or “what to do with their hands” (any movie buffs out there get this reference?!)

It’s my job to get my clients past these awkward nerves and to really sink into each other and forget about the camera. To provide direction but to allow my clients to be themselves and live in the moment.

As the sun slowly melted into the horizon, the boardwalk became more than just the location of our session—it became a place where they remembered what it felt like to simply enjoy each other. With skateboards beneath their feet and the lake reflecting streaks of gold and pink, they laughed like no one was watching. They teased one another, reached for each other’s hands between rides, and celebrated the little victories with smiles that couldn’t be posed.

The result

Somewhere between the gentle push of their boards and the quiet glow of sunset, the pressure of everyday life seemed to disappear. They weren’t thinking about schedules, responsibilities, or the countless distractions that can slowly steal time from a relationship. They were just two people rediscovering the joy that first brought them together.

My Takeaway

I was witnessing two hearts reconnect. Every glance lingered a little longer. Every laugh came a little easier. Every photograph became proof that love doesn’t always need grand gestures—it often finds its way back in the simplest moments.

That’s what I hope these images always remind them of. Not just how beautiful the sunset was, but how they chose each other that evening.

Because sometimes, falling in love isn’t something that happens only once.

Sometimes, it’s something you get to do again and again… one ride, one laugh, and one sunset at a time.
